
At least 45 Nigerian security personnel are dead after hundreds of suspected Boko Haram militants on trucks and motorcycles attacked a Nigerian military base and adjacent police barracks simultaneously in the town of Buni Yadi, Yobe state late Monday. About 24 soldiers and 21 police officers were confirmed dead following the attack, according to VOA’s Hausa Service. A source with Nigeria’s Joint Task Force, who spoke on condition of anonymity, told VOA that the gunmen took away an armored tank and many vehicles. There has however been no word on civilian casualties.
