President Goodluck Jonathan on Wednesday, July 9, 2014 assigned portfolios to four new ministers of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Former governor of Kano State, Ibrahim Shekarau, was assigned the new minister of education alongside three other new ministers recently confirmed by the Senate.
Minister of Niger Delta Affairs was given to Dr. Stephen Oru; Adedayo Adeyeye got minister of state for works and Dr. Abdul Bulama, minister of science and technology.
The former Minister of State for Works, Ambassador Bashir Yuguda, is to take over as the substantive Minister of National Planning as well as Minister of State, Finance.
President Jonathan in his remark at the swearing in and oath taking ceremony said the ministers’ appointment could not be described as enviable because they were appointed at a time when Nigerians expect a lot from them. He urged them to work to satisfy all Nigerians.
