Adamawa Governor, Murtala Nyako |
He said Nyako’s administration had left the state practically dead. Marwa equally declared his intention to run for the governorship position in the state.
He dropped the hints yesterday in Abuja while fielding questions from State House correspondents at the Presidential Villa. The former military administrator told journalists that there was an urgent need to salvage the state. He added that he stands in the best position to place his state on the right pedestal.
“I am running in the next election by the grace of God. Yes and I think that is a concluded business
“PDP is looking for good men who will win elections and I am one of them by the grace of God.

“Adamawa State is like comatose after Nyako’s administration. It is half-dead and it needs a Marwa to resuscitate it and bring it back to where it belongs. Free education, free healthcare, infrastructure, the roads that I did in Lagos like 700, we will double it in Adamawa if not more by the grace of God.
“Water supply is one of the most difficult area in the country. In Borno State, I was governor there and I did over 1,000 boreholes and wells there. Agric, fishery jobs for the youth. We will work for the PDP and the people,” Marwa said.
On how he intends to confront the security challenges in the state if elected as governor, he simply said: “It is my job as you know.”
Meanwhile, the All Progressives Congress (APC) has accused the acting governor of the state, Alhaji Umaru Fintiri, of engaging in a spending spree by ordering the purchase and distribution of Toyota Prado SUVs to the chairmen of the 21 local government areas in the state.
The party also alleged that government gave N5 million each as upfront maintenance cost to the council chairmen.

A statement signed yesterday by the APC National Vice-Chairman, North-east, Mr. Babachir David Lawal, also revealed that “if the defecting chairmen are entitled to these scandalous gifts, we cannot begin to imagine what has so far been shared out to the members of the House of Assembly and the PDP national and state ofï¬cials, the initiators, sponsors and executors of the illegal impeachment in the ï¬rst place.”
Lawal wondered where the acting governor who had claimed that Nyako administration left the state in N12.8billion debt, got this whooping sum of money from?
“More debt? Or was the debt claim simply a bare faced lie to set the stage for this kind of looting? I suspect the later,” he said.

The APC chieftain reasoned that if the recent Boko Haram attacks on Zah and Garkida towns in the state had taken place in similar towns in Borno State, the governor there would have rushed relief materials to the affected communities, visited and promised the rebuilding of burnt houses, churches, mosques and schools.
“But in Adamawa State, we compensate the local government council chairmen with cash and SUVs for the hardship the rebuilding of burnt houses, churches, mosques and schools on their subjects with no consideration at all for the direct victims.
“By the way, tell me what the local government council chairmen have done to deserve these booty? For all we know, all they did was to surrender to Umaru Fintiri’s bullying and intimidation to defect enmass to the PDP. Is this enough reason to allow them loot the state’s treasury?”
“If Alhaji Umaru Fintiri can wait seven years and two months to probe Admiral Murtala Nyako’s administration, the people can wait three months to probe Fintiri.
“It is that simple! We will recover our looted commonwealth which is being shared as war booty in due course. Therefore, I advise these cowardly, conniving local government council chairmen not to be in a haste to ride on our SUVs for, we intend to recover them in October, still brand new. And do not be deceived, the SUVs will not by then, be due for even the maintenance ï¬rst service (which is free anyway) so keep our N5,000,000 intact,” he said.
