Fighters of the Islamist sect, Boko Haram have kidnapped two first class traditional rulers in Borno state – the Emir of Uba, Ismaila Mamza and the Emir of Gwoza, Idrisa Timta, Premium Times reports.
The emirs were said to be travelling this morning, May 30, 2014 to Gombe for the funeral of the Emir of Gombe, Shehu Abubakar who died of cancer on Tuesday at the Royal Marsden Hospital, London.
Insurgents, armed with guns, blocked the convoy of the Emirs at about 10am today and whisked the Emirs who were recently elevated to the First Class traditional ruler status.
Security sources have confirmed the incident. The Borno State government is yet to comment on the incident.
The deadly sect is responsible for the abduction 46 days ago of over 200 female students of the Government Secondary School, Chibok, Borno, an incident that has gained international attention and global action against terror.
