Lagos state Police command are living up to expectation as they
foiled a bank robbery on Sunday due to their quick response to a
distress call.
The 12-man robbery gang who attempted to break into the Elemoro
branch of one of the first generation banks, along Epe road, Lagos were
faced by men of the Police force who engaged them in a shoot out.
When the armed robbers saw that they could not win the battle, they
reportedly fled the scene, abandoning their operational vehicle and
house breaking equipment.
DailyPost gathered that the armed robbers stormed the bank at about 2am and scaled into the compound through
the fence. They were said to have been at the verge of breaking the
Automated Teller Machine, ATM when policemen from Elemoro, led by the
Area J Commander, Mr Felix Vwamhi, who received a distress call, swooped
on them, leading to the gun duel.
Confirming the incident, Lagos State Police Spokesperson, Ngozi
Braide, said the robbers “bowed to the superior fire of the policemen.
Some of them escaped with bullet wounds.
“At the end of the shoot- out, two AK 47 riffles, cutlasses, gas
cylinders with which they intended to use in breaking the ATM machine
were recovered. Also recovered was their operational vehicle, a Sienna
space bus,” she said.
